Mormon Introduction
INTRODUCTION
Where applicable, this study begins each section with a series of quotes from the Holy Bible, NIV. The purpose of these citations is to set forth in as concise as terms as possible the generally recognized Biblical position on the topic under discussion in that section. While this study quotes over 200 contextually accurate statements from the Standard Works, Apostles, designated teachers, and official publications of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), it is not intended to be a definitive all encompassing examination of the teachings of the LDS. Nor is it intended to question the sincerity and integrity of those members of the Mormon church who are honestly unaware of the vast difference between the teachings of their church and those of traditional Biblical Christianity.
On the other hand, this study intends to point out in no uncertain terms that there is virtually no similarity between Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible and worshipped by traditional Christians, and the one to whom the Mormons ascribe allegiance. It is also the purpose of this study to point out in clear, concise, verifiable terms that the Book of Mormon does not support the major teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In fact, it flatly contradicts most of them. As a corollary to this, this study also leaves no doubt that upon careful examination, the Book of Mormon has absolutely no basis upon which it can claim equal standing with the Bible as being the inspired Word of God.
Finally, it is the purpose of this study to point out the difference between the public statements of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints concerning those topics addressed in this study, and their true doctrinal positions. As to why the LDS church makes misleading statements in public, and conceals those which more accurately reflect their position within a myriad of official proclamations and revelations is left to the reader to ponder.
